HNTB names Mario Nuevo as South Florida office leader

Industry veteran will drive growth and recruitment to serve current and future south Florida clients

MIAMI (Oct. 25, 2022) – Mario Nuevo, PE, has been named as vice president and South Florida office leader for HNTB Corporation. Based in Miami, Nuevo brings multiple decades of engineering, construction and infrastructure consulting experience to the firm. His proven leadership will help address South Florida’s growing mobility needs by delivering innovative and value added solutions.

According to Southeast Division president Doug Allen: “Mario’s background and industry experience aligns perfectly with where we want to take our South Florida practice and office while at the same time continuing to deliver for our clients and identifying ways to serve their wide-ranging transportation and infrastructure needs.”

When asked about growing the office and drive for talent, Allen continued: “Mario’s nearly four decades of work in Florida, coupled with his industry reputation and relationships will be invaluable in further expanding the office’s already broad multi-disciplinary team of talented professionals.”

His current role as an HNTB office leader represents a return to the firm, having previously served as transportation group director from 2010 to 2011. A civil engineering graduate of the University of Miami, Nuevo has held progressively advanced positions with several major engineering firms over the course of his career, starting as civil and engineering departments manager, progressing to southeast area manager, and most recently serving as Florida business development director.

Nuevo is a member of the Design-Build Institute of America, American Council of Engineering Companies, the Florida Engineering Society, and the Transportation and Expressway Authority Membership of Florida.

In 1915, HNTB started in Miami working on the Brickell Avenue movable bridge.  Today, HNTB continues to be the preferred consultant on countless projects and contracts assisting roadway, tolling, transit and aviation departments.
