Cliff Bollmann joins HNTB as national design director for aviation architecture

Aviation leader brings decades of global expertise to deliver projects that advance design excellence, operational efficiency and the improved passenger experience

NEW YORK (October 16, 2025)Cliff Bollmann, AIA, has joined HNTB as national design director for the firm’s aviation architecture practice. In this role, Bollmann will guide design vision and strategy across HNTB’s aviation portfolio by partnering with clients to deliver projects that advance design excellence, operational efficiency and the passenger experience.

With more than 30 years of experience, Bollmann has led design efforts for some of the world’s most complex and transformative aviation projects. His work includes major programs at John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Boston Logan International Airport and Gatwick Airport, as well as large-scale terminal developments in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Guadalajara, Mexico and Chennai, India. He also has partnered with leading carriers such as United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, British Airways and JetBlue on terminal and lounge programs to enhance airline identity and operational efficiency.

Bollmann’s portfolio also spans civic, education and cultural projects. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, the Airport Consultants Council and Airports Council International.
