SunTrax

A partnership between the Florida Department of Transportation and Florida Polytechnic University, SunTrax is a state-of-the-art transportation technology testing facility that includes a 2.25-mile oval track on a 400-acre site. SunTrax created a high-tech hub for the research, development and testing of emerging transportation technologies related to tolling, intelligent transportation systems and automated and connected vehicles.

HNTB served as GEC for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. The firm led conceptual drawings and renderings, negotiated design scope for design plans and helped coordinate the press event announcing the partnership between FTE and Florida Polytechnic University.

SunTrax is the first step in building the surrounding area into a destination for the development of this quickly emerging and advancing automotive technology. Hundreds of acres are available immediately adjacent to the facility for the future development that will support the growth of this emerging industry.
