As part of SLC’s redevelopment program, HNTB has been responsible for design, bidding and construction services for all civil engineering program elements, including:

  • Landside: airport roadways, parking areas, elevated roadway bridge structures, and roadway lighting.
  • Airside: taxiways, taxi lanes and ramp areas, service roadways, underground pedestrian tunnel, hydrant fueling system, airfield lighting, security checkpoints, airport operation area fencing and walls.
  • TRAX: airport station layout, track alignment and design, overhead catenary system and signal control systems design.
  • Site-wide: design and coordination of site-wide underground utilities, including water, sanitary sewer and natural gas; pump stations, storm drainage collection and conveyance system, duct bank layouts, site demolition and erosion control.

HNTB also developed detailed construction phasing and access drawings for landside, airside, and TRAX  to accommodate construction of new facilities and sequential demolition of existing facilities to maintain critical airside and landside airport operations.
