HNTB served as project management consultant on the Johnson County Gateway Interchange, the Kansas Department of Transportation’s largest and first-ever design-build project. The critical interchange project provides more efficient movement as commuters navigate changes between I-435, I-35 and Kansas Highway 10.
In the project’s early stages, HNTB assisted KDOT with initial conceptual planning and preliminary design, helped develop the state’s first design-build RFP and facilitated the procurement process. As the state’s project management consultant, HNTB also provided design, construction, communication and administrative oversight during construction.
The Johnson Country Gateway Interchange, a critical hub for regional transportation and economic growth, ensures safe and efficient travel for daily traffic, which is estimated to grow to 380,000 vehicles by 2040.
