Randy Jefferies joins HNTB as project director in Salt Lake City

Award-winning program director brings more than two decades of experience leading large, innovative delivery projects

SALT LAKE CITY (June 22, 2023) – Randy Jefferies has joined HNTB as an engineering project director and associate vice president in Salt Lake City. In this role, Jefferies will be responsible for leading complex transportation projects spanning a variety of transportation modes, including highways, transit and active transportation.

“Randy’s combination of leadership skills, technical acumen and client and community relationships make him the perfect fit for HNTB’s Salt Lake City team,” said Dominic Spaethling, HNTB Salt Lake City office leader. “Throughout his career, Randy has led and delivered large projects. His experience and innovation in managing major highway and roadway projects will be of tremendous value to Utah Department of Transportation and other clients in the state and the U.S.”

Prior to joining HNTB, Jefferies spent 25 years at the UDOT, where he progressed from design engineer to program director and was awarded UDOT Leader of the Year. His commitment to teamwork and collaboration has helped him build trust and consensus with project stakeholders and elected officials throughout Utah.

Jefferies has a significant amount of experience leading environmental and innovative delivery programs, including progressive design-build and construction manager/general contractor. Among his notable projects as a program director, Jefferies oversaw the North Davis Mobility Program, which includes the $800 million West Davis Highway Design-Build project and the $525 million US-89 Progressive Design-Build project.

Jefferies received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Brigham Young University, and he is a licensed professional engineer in Utah.
