Michael Torsiello joins HNTB as senior project manager

His two decades of underground project management expertise includes recent work on LA Metro’s Purple Line Extension

LOS ANGELES (May 15, 2023) – Michael Torsiello, PE, PMP, has joined HNTB Corporation as senior project manager and associate vice president. He is based in the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office, supporting major transportation projects in Southern California including the Eastside Transit Corridor for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

“Michael brings extensive knowledge and underground project management experience with large civil design projects as well as collaborative leaderships expertise,” said Yoga Chandran, PE, GE, HNTB Los Angeles office leader and senior vice president.  “His specialized skills and capabilities will allow us to better serve our clients and provide them with the innovative solutions they expect from us.”

Prior to joining HNTB, Torsiello worked for another engineering consulting firm where he worked on LA Metro’s Westside Purple Line Extension project for more than seven years in multiple technical and project management roles. In those roles, he managed the discipline leads for the design of all the temporary and permanent aspects of a heavy-rail subway system including twin bore tunnels, cross passages, and underground stations. He has experience in project management, bid documents for alternative delivery, design of underground structures, third-party coordination and real estate acquisitions.

Torsiello earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and a Master of Science in geotechnical engineering from Tufts University in Massachusetts. He is a licensed professional civil engineer in California and a certified Project Management Professional.
