Jennifer Gallagher joins HNTB as a project director focused on emerging mobility technologies

Veteran City of Columbus professional brings extensive experience leading and implementing transformative transportation mobility initiatives including Smart Columbus program

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Feb. 14, 2024) Jennifer Gallagher, PE, PTOE, joins HNTB Corporation, a leading infrastructure solutions firm, as a project director specializing in emerging mobility technologies. With a focus on the convergence of mobility, technology and economic development, Gallagher brings more than 28 years of expertise in regional planning and operations, stakeholder engagement and effectively leveraging state and federal grant-funded programs to realize transportation objectives.

In her new role, Gallagher will deliver sustainable transportation solutions, comprehensive mobility strategies and program management oversight to support clients in implementing complex advanced mobility and infrastructure technology projects.

Gallagher most recently served as the director of the City of Columbus Department of Public Service where she played a key role in the implementation of transformative transportation initiatives in Columbus, including the Shared Mobility Device program, “LinkUS” comprehensive growth strategy and “Vision Zero Columbus.” She was also instrumental in securing significant federal and state grants, notably the U.S. Department of Transportation’s $40 million Smart City Challenge, establishing Columbus as the first city to seamlessly integrate innovative technologies into its transportation network.

Earlier in her career, Gallagher held various roles with the Ohio Department of Transportation and worked as a traffic engineer for the Franklin County Engineer’s Office. She holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from The Ohio State University and is a licensed professional engineer in Ohio and a certified professional traffic operations engineer.
