Award recognizes industry leaders committed to advancing women in transportation
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 18, 2024) – HNTB’s Dave McDougall, Indiana office leader and senior vice president, has been awarded the 2024 Honorable Ray LaHood Award from the Indianapolis chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar. The award recognizes leaders who have made significant contributions to advancing women in the transportation industry.
As office leader, McDougall leads a team of more than 300 infrastructure professionals, guiding the planning, management and successful delivery of major projects across Indiana. Under his leadership, 40% of his leadership team is comprised of women, a significant increase from the 9% at the start of his tenure. Nearly 30% of HNTB Indiana’s staff are women, surpassing the national average and underscoring his commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace. A vocal advocate for advancing women in leadership roles, McDougall’s proactive efforts are evident in HNTB’s Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Allyship initiative, where he serves as a mentor to women within the firm.
McDougall’s contributions extend beyond HNTB. As an advisor to the WTS Indianapolis chapter, he has helped implement policies that promote the recognition of women in executive positions, providing mentorship and networking opportunities to support women’s career growth in transportation.
“Dave is a true advocate for gender equity in our industry,” said Chris Gale, PE, HNTB’s Great Lakes Division president and senior vice president. “His dedication to creating opportunities for women and his commitment to diversity are inspiring, setting a high standard for leadership in transportation.”
McDougall was presented with the award at the 6th Annual Awards Gala on November 14.
