HNTB recognized for award-winning construction engineering and inspection services

Design-build and roadway projects recognized for innovations by American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida

LAKE MARY, Fla. (June 7, 2024) – HNTB has been recognized with two Outstanding Project Awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida with the Outstanding Design-Build or CM at Risk Project award for the I-295 Express Lanes design-build project and the Outstanding Special Roadway Project award for the Glades Road Diverging Diamond Interchange project.

The Outstanding Project Award is part of ACEC Florida’s annual recognition of outstanding achievements by its member firms in accomplishing Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) studies and projects in eight project award categories.

“HNTB is proud to support FDOT on these projects that directly benefit the Jacksonville and Boca Raton communities,” said Matthew Price, PE, HNTB’s construction services office leader and vice president in Florida. “The innovations that were utilized on both projects have already raised the bar for future transportation infrastructure in Florida. The impact each of these roadway improvements will reach far beyond the immediate communities they serve.”

In conjunction with longstanding toll and expressway work with FDOT, HNTB was engaged to improve traffic operations and increase safety on these two projects.

The I-295 Express Lanes project combined innovative design-build strategies to reduce wetland impacts by 20%, increase travel efficiency and improve capacity for the traveling public along the eastern I-295 corridor in Jacksonville. The Glades Road Diverging Diamond Interchange project featured improvements to safety and traffic operations, including bridge widenings and the addition of a pedestrian bridge over I-95. The project enhances the overall traveler experience and reduces traffic conflict points in Boca Raton.

The project teams were recognized for these awards at ACEC Florida’s FDOT Outstanding Project Awards Ceremony during the annual ACEC Florida Transportation Conference on June 6, 2024 at Rosen Centre Orlando.
