Urban mobility expert relocates from HNTB’s Chicago office; brings 18 years of planning experience to position in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (June 7, 2024) – HNTB Corporation announced Peter Costa, AICP, PTP, has been named transportation planning director. He is based in the firm’s Los Angeles office and responsible for growing the firm’s urban mobility planning portfolio in Southern California.
“We welcome Pete to Los Angeles where he serves the needs of our clients facing rapid changes with mobility systems,” said Kevin Haboian, PE, HNTB chief sales officer. “His people-focused approach brings a high level of focus to the planning process by putting the community at the forefront of the conversation.”
Costa has 18 years of experience in transportation planning on projects across the country in collaboration with communities, public agencies, non-profit organizations, academic institutions and private businesses. Most recently, he served as urban mobility leader and principal planner in HNTB’s Chicago office, where he built one of the firm’s largest planning groups. He also assisted the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways to advance bikeshare services in his role as principal planner.

Costa received a bachelor’s in political science and a master’s in urban planning and policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
