HNTB names new Fellows and Associate Fellows

The Fellows program distinguishes HNTB employees for their technical excellence and leadership

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 21, 2024) – HNTB Corporation named three new Fellows and six new Associate Fellows, the highest technical honors within the company.

HNTB’s Fellows Program distinguishes HNTB employees who are recognized experts in their respective fields. HNTB Fellows are employees who have performed their leadership, mentoring and consulting skills in an exemplary way on a national level and contribute outstanding technical excellence in developing solutions, processes or approaches that exceed our clients’ expectations.

HNTB Associate Fellows are employees who exhibit leadership, mentoring and consulting skills in an exemplary way on a regional level and contribute outstanding technical excellence in developing solutions, processes or approaches that exceed our clients’ expectations.

“Technical excellence is a hallmark of HNTB, dating back to our founding 110 years ago, and it remains steadfastly rooted in our corporate culture,” said Rob Slimp, HNTB chairman and CEO.  “We are pleased to recognize our colleagues’ achievements in technical excellence by honoring them with the HNTB Associate Fellow and HNTB Fellow designations.”

These significant factors were considered in the selection of each Fellow and Associate Fellow:

  • Strategic importance of nominee’s technical contributions
  • Critical impact to HNTB’s technical excellence
  • High degree of technical and design leadership, outreach and collaboration with colleges and universities, and staff development skills
  • Leading role played in design of HNTB award-winning projects
  • High levels of innovation and originality

Fellows:

Bernd Hagenah – Bernd serves as a transformative force in the industry by partnering with global transportation companies in designing ventilation of underground train stations, aerodynamic investigations and fire and life safety concepts for major international and domestic projects.

Stephen Novosad – Stephen is widely recognized nationally as a thought leader in intelligent mobility and has routinely applied his technical excellence to deliver positive impacts on multiple projects, programs and client relationships.

Katherine Zehnder – Katie has successfully led HNTB and its clients across the country in sustainable energy solutions. She is a thought leader in smart city technology, electrification and advanced air mobility.

Associate Fellows:

Patrick D’Ambrosio – Patrick plays a key leadership role in delivering some of the New York metropolitan area’s most complex accelerated design or design-build projects. He was the driving force behind the delivery of two emergency replacement projects that restored critical train service after Hurricane Ida.

Kuan Go – Kuan is the Northern California structures department manager. He has delivered some of the region’s most complex design-build projects to date and throughout his career has completed more than 130 bridges and structures in California, Nevada, Hawaii, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Amjad Hussain – Amjad’s expertise extends to every aspect of high-speed rail, from initial planning to final design, construction, oversight and asset management, making him a key figure in advancing high-speed rail systems and infrastructure nationwide.

Robert Page – Robert is HNTB’s water practice’s national practice leader. He has made a national impact, serving as technical lead on projects from coast to coast and building strong, trusting relationships with clients.

Mark Stephani – Mark has 20-plus years of technical and managerial experience on geotechnical, tunnel and underground infrastructure projects.

Darin Welch – Darin is known as the inventor of the Public Involvement Management Application, or PIMA, originally launched in 2016 and now deployed with several clients.
