Grace Tell joins HNTB as project director

Former Caltrans project leader brings more than 25 years’ experience

LOS ANGELES (July 8, 2024) – Grace Tell, PE, has been named project director at HNTB Corporation, based in the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office. She is responsible for business development focusing on the infrastructure needs of the California Department of Transportation, California High-Speed Rail Authority and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

“Grace has significant experience working with Caltrans on a wide range of projects,” said Yoga Chandran, PhD, PE, GE, HNTB Los Angeles office leader and senior vice president. “She is exceptionally well positioned to support HNTB in large scale infrastructure pursuits in this region.”

HNTB’s Grace Tell

Tell has more than 25 years of experience in highway and tolling facility program/project management, planning, design and construction. Most recently, she supported efforts for finalizing and implementing Caltrans’ managed lanes policy and administered the agency’s first toll lane project on Interstate 5.

“We welcome and appreciate her extensive expertise with federal, state and local governmental agencies and stakeholders, including Metro, Orange County Transportation Authority and Transportation Corridor Agencies to undertake regional transportation projects,” said Shahram Vahdat, PE, HNTB vice president and group director, engineering.

Tell received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from California State University Long Beach. She is a registered professional engineer in the state of California.
