As USC joins the Big Ten Conference, the university and its athletic department are seizing the opportunity to redefine their athletic facilities. The Bloom Football Performance Center will support all aspects of USC football with dedicated nutrition, training and recovery. Amenities include two full-length practice fields, a spacious locker room with direct access to hydrotherapy and recovery pools, a sports medicine suite with an adjoining mud room and cooldown pool, and a weight room with direct access to outdoor practice areas. Interior and exterior lounges have been designed to promote team camaraderie as well as space for players to unwind and enjoy the Southern California climate. The performance center also features a two-story team meeting room and 12-position specific meeting rooms to allow for future growth and flexibility.

USC Head Coach Lincoln Riley underscored the facility’s significance: “The new Bloom Football Performance Center will be a game-changer for our program. The facility, which will be the best in the nation, will provide our student-athletes with top-of-the-line resources ensuring that USC football stays at the forefront of sports science, media, nutrition and recovery.”

Jeff Fucci, USC’s associate athletic director, added, “The new facility will provide USC student-athletes with world-class spaces to train, compete and, most importantly, become the best well-rounded individuals they can be.”

HNTB is leading the architectural and interior design of the Bloom Football Performance Center. Following an initial feasibility study, HNTB is working with USC to bring this state-of-the-art facility to life. The design process began with visioning sessions that brought together USC’s athletic administration, football head coaches, and key support staff. During these sessions, HNTB presented updated data and 3D visuals to ensure the facility’s vision was fully aligned with the program’s goals.

Vito Privitera, design principal at HNTB, shared, “Our guiding design principle for this facility was to set a new standard for facilities by blending USC’s tradition of success and championship aspirations with operational functionality and exceptional user experience.”
