Cal Hardie joins HNTB as senior project manager

Transportation expert to support the firm’s clients in West Florida

TAMPA, Fla. (July 9, 2024) – HNTB announces Cal Hardie, PE has joined the firm as a senior roadway project manager in the firm’s Tampa, Florida office. Hardie will focus on supporting the firm’s county and municipal clients in West Florida.

Prior to joining HNTB, Hardie worked at the City of Tampa for nearly a decade leading capital improvement planning, driving the grant applications process and providing construction and program management oversight. As a licensed professional engineer in Florida, Hardie also served as the city’s chief design engineer for the mobility department where he specialized in urban design of roadways and multimodal facilities.

“Cal is a remarkably talented practitioner,” said Len Becker, HNTB’s West Florida office leader and senior vice president. “He has been instrumental in some of Tampa’s industry-leading initiatives including providing safe and efficient alternatives to driving, maximizing grant funding and enhancing safety to reduce traffic deaths. We look forward to Cal continuing his leadership on projects for our West Florida clients.”

Hardie has worked extensively with the National Association of City Transportation Officials Design Team and founded the City of Tampa’s Quick Build Design Team – a unique design build quick action team. He was appointed by Mayor Jane Castor to the Tampa Historic Streetcar Board and has represented the City of Tampa on several committees, including Hillsborough Transportation Planning Organization’s Livable Roadways and Technical Advisory Committees. He also oversaw public engagement meetings for the city and was responsible for the development of technical standards for the City of Tampa Streets Design Guide.

Hardie holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University.
