The new Champ Clark Bridge marks the 34th Mississippi River bridge project for HNTB. From as far north as St. Cloud, Minnesota, to as far south as New Orleans, HNTB has helped owners improve safety and mobility up and down the world-famous waterway.

“HNTB is the dominant engineering firm for one of the planet’s longest rivers,” said John Barton, HNTB professional services chair, DOT market sector leader and interim bridge practice leader. “That dominance continued with the successful completion of the Champ Clark Bridge.”

HNTB has been bringing full-service capabilities and advanced technology to the planning, design and construction of complex spans and movable bridges for more than 100 years.

“Our expertise on major river crossings helps owners and contractors achieve better results and meet the community’s needs as well as its expectations,” Barton said.

Often, HNTB’s bridge teams include other in-house disciplines, such as electric, hydrology and geotechnical, allowing the project to benefit from a single-source access to a range of expertise.

“Building a team with people like this is what has set us apart for the past 100 years,” Barton said. “And it will continue to set us apart in the next 100 years.”
