Vince Pellegrin joins HNTB’s fleet and facility practice as zero emission/alternative fuels lead

Seasoned transit executive to guide agencies in optimizing fleet performance and delivering safer, more reliable service

MINNEAPOLIS (Feb. 4, 2026) HNTB Corporation announced that Vince Pellegrin has joined the firm as the vehicles practice, zero emission/alternative fuels lead. Pellegrin brings more than 40 years of experience in public transit operations, vehicle engineering, fleet management and zero-emission technology. His background includes leadership roles at Metro Transit in Minneapolis, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York City and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Most recently, Pellegrin served as chief operating officer at Metro Transit, where he oversaw operations for a fleet of nearly 1,000 buses along with light rail and commuter rail service. He led the agency’s implementation of a federal Low or No Emission Grant to deploy battery-electric buses. His responsibilities included developing technical specifications, planning charging infrastructure, establishing maintenance procedures and integrating zero-emission vehicles into revenue service.

Earlier in his career, Pellegrin helped advance national efforts in alternative propulsion technologies, including compressed natural gas, methanol, hybrid-electric and early battery-electric bus programs.

Pellegrin holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and is a certified emergency manager in Minnesota.
