HNTB expands New York presence with new White Plains office

New Hudson Valley location strengthens support for local clients and creates opportunities for continued team growth

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2026) – HNTB has expanded its presence in New York with a new office in White Plains, strengthening the firm’s ability to serve transportation and infrastructure clients across Westchester County, the Hudson Valley and throughout New York State.

The new office, which opened in early August, expands HNTB’s New York operations beyond its primary office in the Empire State Building and its office in Albany. The White Plains location provides greater proximity to clients and projects north of New York City while offering employees a convenient working location within the region.

Located at 50 Main Street, the office sits directly across from the White Plains Metro-North station and includes many amenities such as outdoor space, on-site parking and access to a building fitness center.

“Having a presence in White Plains brings us closer to the clients and communities we serve across Westchester County and the Hudson Valley,” said Bernard Kalus, vice president and senior project director at HNTB. “Many of us already live in this region, so we have a personal connection to the local communities and a vested interest in improving the infrastructure through the projects we work on. We want to be good neighbors, build lasting relationships and contribute to projects that make a meaningful difference where we live and work.”

The White Plains team currently brings expertise in civil and structural engineering, transit & rail, aviation, traffic engineering, electrical engineering and communications. As the office grows, HNTB also expects to expand capabilities in program management, construction inspection and planning and environmental services.

Current work supported by the White Plains team includes a master planning effort for the Westchester County Airport focused on the future of the terminal and its interaction with airport operations, as well as a recently awarded Statewide Regional Design Services Agreement and Statewide Load Rating Agreement with the New York State Department of Transportation. These on-call assignments will help the Department address transportation needs across the state. The White Plains location also strengthens HNTB’s ability to serve agencies throughout the region, including the New York State Thruway Authority, New York State Bridge Authority, Metro-North Railroad and the surrounding counties and municipalities.

“The White Plains office strengthens our ability to serve clients across New York while giving our employees greater options on where they work and build their careers,” said Michael Mangione, senior vice president and New York office leader at HNTB. “Our goal is to pair the relationships and close collaboration of a local office with the resources and expertise of HNTB’s broader New York and national teams.”

HNTB will host an open house at the White Plains office on Oct. 8 for employees, clients, partners and members of the local community.

As the White Plains team continues to grow, HNTB is actively recruiting to support its ongoing expansion, particularly in civil and structural engineering. Employees based in White Plains remain closely connected with HNTB’s broader New York team and have access to the same onboarding, training, professional development and national resources available across the firm.
