HNTB expands Milwaukee office to support continued growth in Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE (March 24, 2026)HNTB, a leading infrastructure solutions firm, is expanding its Milwaukee office to accommodate continued growth and meet increasing demand for transportation and infrastructure services across Wisconsin.

The firm will expand into the 18th floor of its current office building at 250 E. Wisconsin Ave., complementing its existing space on the 19th and 20th floors. The added floor will support HNTB’s growing Milwaukee team and provide additional room for collaboration, training and client engagement as the firm continues delivering transportation and infrastructure projects across the region.

HNTB currently has approximately 140 professionals based in its Milwaukee office, and over 200 professionals statewide. The expansion will allow the firm to grow its local workforce by up to 50% in the coming years, positioning HNTB to meet increasing demand for transportation and infrastructure services across southeastern Wisconsin while supporting the region’s continued economic growth.

The investment reflects strong demand for infrastructure improvements in Wisconsin, driven by evolving transportation systems and ongoing population growth. HNTB works closely with regional partners including the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, Milwaukee County and other local agencies to help advance critical infrastructure initiatives.

“Expanding our Milwaukee office reflects HNTB’s long-term commitment to Wisconsin and the communities we serve,” said T.J. Dougherty, PE, Wisconsin office leader and vice president for HNTB. “With increased transportation investments from our clients, we’re seeing programs grow that will focus on modernizing the region’s aging infrastructure. As funding expands, we’re excited to leverage our talent and expertise to deepen our impact locally. This investment creates a more collaborative environment for our team to further understand client priorities and deliver tailored infrastructure solutions that support continued growth across Milwaukee, the southeast region and Wisconsin as a whole.”

HNTB’s Milwaukee office supports a wide range of transportation services including roadway design, structural engineering, urban planning, water resources and construction engineering and inspection. These capabilities help public agencies advance critical infrastructure projects throughout Wisconsin.

Among the major projects in the region, HNTB is involved in work related to the I-794 Lake Interchange study and the ongoing I-94 East-West corridor improvements between the Marquette and Zoo interchanges. The firm is also supporting planning and infrastructure studies in Milwaukee and surrounding counties.

The Milwaukee office is part of HNTB’s broader Wisconsin presence, which also includes offices in Madison and Green Bay.
