Continuing a longstanding partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), HNTB is providing a suite of innovative environmental solutions across northwestern and western Georgia that help GDOT meet its mission of protecting Georgia’s natural, cultural and social environments while keeping transportation projects on schedule.
Innovation in Archaeology
An in-house archaeology lab, located in HNTB’s Atlanta office, enables teams to efficiently conduct Phase I, II and III archaeological services. The lab’s multi-step curation process allows for same-day excavation and geophysical analysis — significantly accelerating project timelines.
The lab is leveraged for a variety of services and projects, such as:
- Recovering thousands of artifacts from rivers and streams
- LiDAR-imaging historic mines
- Identifying historic structures
Impact
By integrating advanced archaeological capabilities and deep regulatory expertise, HNTB is helping GDOT streamline permitting processes, quicken project delivery and preserve Georgia’s rich environmental and cultural heritage.
