HNTB provided design and construction-inspection services for the Blennerhassett Bridge, the longest tied-arch span in the United Sates.
The bridge passes over Blennerhassett Island, a historical state park and wetland, as it carries U.S. Highway 50 over the Ohio River from Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the Ohio state line.
A project 40 years in the making, the bridge completes U.S. 50, which is one of the original Appalachian corridors. It is expected to greatly enhance economic development in the region by improving access to major cities east and west of the Ohio River.
