Kimberly Gilbert rejoins HNTB as project director

Seasoned professional brings extensive experience in delivering transit and rail projects, aiming to elevate the passenger experience and optimize operational efficiency

ARLINGTON, Va. (Jan. 30, 2024) – Kimberly Gilbert, PE, PMP, rejoins HNTB Corporation, a leading infrastructure solutions firm, as project director and vice president. She brings more than 28 years of extensive experience and leadership in the transit and rail industry, including both light and heavy rail transit from conceptual engineering to final design.

In her new role, she will lead major transit and rail programs for clients across the Capital Region such as Amtrak, the Maryland Transit Administration and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to help advance large scale projects and programs that improve and enhance transit and rail infrastructure. This entails overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from scope development to cost and quality control and project management.

Gilbert most recently served as the senior director for the program implementation group at the Northeast Corridor Commission, where she led implementation coordination activities and  facilitated a consensus-driven program management process with the Commission’s members collaborating with representatives from each of the eight Northeast Corridor states, the District of Columbia, Amtrak and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Gilbert holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Morgan State University and is a registered professional engineer in Maryland and a Project Management Professional.
