Kayla Zacharias joins HNTB as planner in Denver

Experienced transportation planner to help deliver data-driven, community-focused mobility solutions across Colorado

DENVER (April 14, 2026)Kayla Zacharias has joined HNTB as a transportation planner in the firm’s Denver office. With experience in multimodal transportation planning and regional coordination, Zacharias will support project delivery, stakeholder engagement and planning initiatives for clients across Colorado.

“Kayla brings a strong understanding of multimodal planning and a thoughtful, collaborative approach to engaging stakeholders and communities,” said Del Walker, Denver office leader and vice president at HNTB. “Her experience supporting complex planning initiatives and advancing projects across Colorado will strengthen our ability to deliver solutions that meet our clients’ evolving needs.”

Prior to joining HNTB, Zacharias served as an associate city planner with the Denver Department of Transportation & Infrastructure, where she led and supported multimodal planning projects and coordinated with internal and external stakeholders to advance key initiatives. Her experience includes work on the city’s Greenways Master Plan, Safe Routes to School, and bus rapid transit projects, as well as development of capital improvement plans and pedestrian safety guidelines.

Zacharias was previously a transportation planner with the Mid-America Regional Council, where she led regional safety planning initiatives and collaborated with state departments of transportation and local municipalities to advance coordinated strategies and performance measures.

At HNTB, Zacharias will collaborate on transportation planning projects by supporting project management, conducting research, producing planning tools and engaging with stakeholders to help develop data-driven recommendations that enhance transportation systems and support community needs.
