Ivan Salvatierra joins HNTB as senior project manager

Transportation infrastructure expert brings two-plus decades of complex roadway, rail and transit experience

LOS ANGELES (April 13, 2026) Ivan Salvatierra, PE, has joined HNTB Corporation as a senior project manager supporting roadway and transit projects. Based in the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office, Salvatierra provides design and project management leadership for Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and other regional transportation clients.

“Ivan’s broad technical background and deep understanding of Southern California’s transportation network make him a strong addition to our Los Angeles team,” said Yoga Chandran, PhD, PE, GE, senior vice president and Los Angeles office leader for HNTB. “His experience across complex roadway, rail and transit programs aligns well with our commitment to delivering innovative, client-focused solutions that improve mobility for the communities we serve.”

Salvatierra has more than 21 years of experience in transportation infrastructure design and management, with expertise spanning rail, tunneling, roadway and highway design, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems and construction management. He has led multidisciplinary teams on large, technically complex projects requiring close coordination with public agencies, stakeholders and contractors.

Prior to joining HNTB, Salvatierra supported major transit infrastructure projects across Southern California, serving as civil design lead on the Metro Westside Purple Line Extension and contributing in a key coordination and project management role on Metro Foothill Gold Line Extension Phase 2B, as well as the Countywide Transit Signal Priority Cloud Project for LA Metro. His experience also includes the City of Los Angeles Alameda Street Widening Project and the Metrolink Lilac to Rancho Double Track Project, where he oversaw project delivery, coordinated with public agencies and managed design and construction activities.

Salvatierra earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is a registered professional civil and traffic engineer in the state of California.
