The WIT Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually by the Women in Tolling Council, a group within IBTTA dedicated to connecting women in tolling globally, advocating for diverse leadership and fostering professional growth. Thompson was recognized for her decades of leadership, advocacy and innovation in transportation and tolling, as well as her role as a founding member of the WIT Council.

With more than 30 years of experience in transportation infrastructure, Thompson has been a driving force behind some of the most transformative tolling initiatives across the eastern United States. She also has played a pivotal role in expanding HNTB’s tolling portfolio, collaborating with clients to help implement cutting-edge managed lanes, all-electronic tolling systems and customer service center innovations.

“Lisa’s impact on the tolling industry is immeasurable,” said Mike Sweeney, Eastern Region president at HNTB. “She has not only advanced our clients’ goals but also mentored the next generation of leaders in our field. This an incredible and well-deserved recognition.”

Thompson is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and an active member of IBTTA’s Women in Tolling Council, where she champions diversity and inclusion in infrastructure leadership. She also serves on the government affairs and international affairs committees for IBTTA. Her leadership extends to other industry associations, including WTS and the American Public Transportation Association Foundation where she serves on the board of directors. She has previously been recognized as one of the 100 most influential women in Georgia by Georgia Engineering magazine and was honored as the recipient of the 2022 Living the Legacy Award by the Atlanta Chapter of WTS.

“I’m deeply honored to receive this award from IBTTA,” said Thompson. “It’s been a privilege to work alongside so many talented professionals and to help shape the future of tolling. I’m especially proud of the progress we’ve made in creating more inclusive and innovative transportation systems.”

Thompson is based in HNTB’s Atlanta office and continues to lead strategic growth efforts across the East Region.
