SALT LAKE CITY – (Oct. 2, 2026) – HNTB has named Alana Spendlove Utah location leader. In this role, she will guide and support employee development, client service, project delivery and strategic growth for the firm across the state.
Spendlove joined HNTB in 2025 and currently serves as the firm’s group director of integrated services, leading a team that provides expertise in planning and environmental services, surface water, traffic, utilities and public involvement. Since joining the firm, she has collaborated with clients on strategic planning, federal compliance and organizational excellence initiatives, including High Valley Transit’s strategic and capital plans and the Utah Transit Authority’s grant compliance program.
“Alana has successfully led complex initiatives from both the agency and consulting perspectives, bringing a collaborative leadership style, strong operational expertise and a commitment to helping clients achieve their goals,” said Catherine Curtis, HNTB’s Mountain West office leader. “She has earned the trust of clients and colleagues alike, and I look forward to seeing the impact she’ll continue to make across the state.”
Prior to joining HNTB, Spendlove held several leadership roles at the Utah Department of Transportation, including statewide utility and railroad director, where she helped guide statewide coordination efforts, policy development and digital delivery initiatives. She also managed Federal Transit Administration formula funding programs serving rural Utah communities, helping agencies maintain compliance while supporting essential mobility services.
“I’m honored to serve as HNTB’s Utah location leader,” Spendlove said. “What excites me most about this opportunity is the ability to support our people and collaborate with our clients as we continue delivering meaningful transportation solutions for the communities we serve.”
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Spendlove is active in industry organizations including Women’s Transportation Seminar.
She earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in operational excellence and data-driven decision-making from Louisiana State University Shreveport and a bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis in planning from the University of Utah.
