Veteran engineer brings 30 years of experience leading transportation projects
ATLANTA (Jan. 7, 2025) – HNTB, a leading infrastructure solutions firm, is pleased to announce David Henry, PE, is leading the firm’s transportation design group in Georgia. In this role, Henry will oversee the day-to-day management of the roadway and bridge design groups, providing leadership in project delivery, client service and team development.
Henry has more than 30 years of experience managing complex transportation projects for state and local agencies, including the Georgia Department of Transportation, Gwinnett County DOT, Cobb County DOT, Paulding County DOT and the City of Fairburn. His expertise spans roadway and bridge design, survey coordination, project budgeting and schedule management. He also has a deep understanding of GDOT standards and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials guidelines.

Throughout his career, Henry has been instrumental in delivering high-profile roadway and bridge projects that improve safety, capacity and efficiency. His work includes overseeing bridge replacements, integrating critical design elements such as vertical and horizontal alignments, hydraulic clearances, shoulders and approaches. As project engineer for the Pinehurst Road at Big Haynes Creek bridge replacement, Henry implemented innovative time-saving mechanisms to minimize road closures. Additionally, he served as project manager for the Hiawassee River Bridge Replacement, skillfully coordinating multiple agencies to maintain the project schedule for critical infrastructure. His leadership on widening and interchange projects, such as the SR 44 Widening in Putnam and Greene Counties and I-285 at Flat Shoals Road in DeKalb County, demonstrates his ability to lead urban and rural projects with safety, connectivity and mobility as a common outcome.
Henry holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Georgia and Florida and holds a Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level II certification.
