Avis Gaines joins HNTB as senior project manager in New Orleans

Professional engineer with proven experience successfully delivering large civil works projects, leading project teams and meeting client expectations

NEW ORLEANS (May 17, 2022) – Avis Gaines, PE, has joined HNTB Corporation as a senior project manager in the New Orleans office. Gaines brings over 15 years of project management experience across all project delivery phases including planning, design and construction.

As a key member of HNTB’s Gulf Coast civil works practice, Gaines will coordinate with local, state and federal clients and manage project teams to deliver project scopes, schedules and budgets to completion and to the clients’ satisfaction. As a senior project manager, she will also lead the development and execution of project and program management plans as well as supervise and mentor teams to achieve project objectives.

Prior to joining HNTB, Gaines served as the design build coordinator on the $169 million Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement public-private partnership project in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, and managed multiple projects for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, including the $615 million Permanent Canal Closures and Pumps project in New Orleans.

In addition to overseeing the delivery of current and ongoing infrastructure projects, Gaines will assist the office in client development activities and project pursuits throughout the Gulf Coast region.

Gaines received her Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Louisiana State University.
