Amjad Obeid joins HNTB as project director and construction manager

Transportation leader brings more than 35 years of Southern California experience

LOS ANGELES (April 15, 2026) – Amjad Obeid, PE, has joined HNTB Corporation as project director and construction manager. Based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, Obeid leads construction management and resident engineering services for major highway programs, supporting Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and other regional transportation agencies. He also serves as the resident engineer on the I-105 Express Lanes project.

Obeid has more than 35 years of experience delivering transportation infrastructure throughout the region, with a career spanning highway, transit and multimodal projects. He has managed hundreds of millions of dollars in construction, including emergency response and recovery projects, environmental mitigation efforts and light rail facilities constructed within active highway corridors. His experience positions him to support alternative delivery methods, including construction manager/general contractor, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and schedule certainty.

Prior to joining HNTB, Obeid served as an office chief at the California Department of Transportation. He previously held the role of senior transportation engineer, leading multidisciplinary teams and partnering closely with local, regional and state agencies to advance complex projects from construction through completion.

Obeid earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from California State University, Long Beach. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of California.
