Expert in advanced traffic management systems brings more than 20 years of international planning, design and operations experience
LOS ANGELES (Aug. 11, 2021) – Monica Castellanos has joined HNTB Corporation as toll technology senior consultant, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. She brings extensive international experience and supports the firm’s clients in Southern California on tolling, advanced traffic management and integrated corridor management services.
“Monica’s broad experience as a consultant and system integrator is a valuable asset as the firm continues to expand its tolling and integrated corridor management work,” said Wayne Feuerborn, HNTB West Division president. “She offers a complete perspective for transportation agencies engaged in or considering implementing tolling and intelligent transportation systems.”
Castellanos has more than 20 years of experience in a wide array of experience in the planning, design, operations and management of Electronic Toll Collection Systems, Advanced Traffic Management Systems, and Advanced Traveler Information Systems, both in the United States and internationally.
Prior to joining HNTB, she was a deputy project manager for Riverside County Transportation Commission on the I-15 Express Lanes Project; served as project manager for the Caltrans District 7 Arterial Management System Project in Los Angeles; and served as project manager and ITS consultant for multiple other Caltrans projects.
Her professional involvement includes the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for ITS California; the Transportation Research Board; and an active member of the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association.
Castellanos received a Bachelor of Applied Science in technology management from Bemidji State University in Minnesota, a diploma in civil engineering from Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology (Ontario, Canada), and a post-graduate diploma in environmental management from Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology (Ontario, Canada).
