HNTB’s growing tunnel team is working on many of the nation’s most complex and innovative tunnel projects
DALLAS (Feb. 11, 2020) – Kumar Bhattarai, PE, joined HNTB Corporation’s national tunnel practice as principal engineer. He is based in the firm’s Dallas office and serves as an accomplished resource to the firm’s clients and projects across the nation.
With more than 25 years of experience, Bhattarai brings extensive design and management experience in large rail/transit and water tunnel/underground infrastructure projects around the world. He has experience in project delivery in design-build, program management, design-bid-build, engineering procurement and construction, and large public-private partnership methods.

His expertise is a great addition to the firm’s growing national tunnel and underground team.”
Bhattarai previously served as principal project engineer for another consulting firm. In that position, he served in leadership role on multiple tunnel and underground tunnel projects. He earned a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering and management from the University of Hong Kong and a bachelor’s in civil engineering from Xi’an Highway Transport University in China.
Bhattarai is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a registered professional engineer in California, Washington, Texas, Ontario and British Columbia.
