Award recognizes outstanding women in transportation
LOS ANGELES (Nov. 11, 2020) – Heather Anderson, PE, was named Member of the Year by WTS-Los Angeles. The annual award acknowledges women who have made extraordinary contributions to their organization. Anderson will be recognized at the WTS-LA Annual Awards program on Nov. 12, 2020.
“We congratulate Heather on being recognized as an exceptional role model for young women in the transportation industry,” said Wayne Feuerborn, HNTB West Division president. “She consistently demonstrates commitment through both professional and personal achievements and mentors the next generation of female transportation professionals entering this industry.”
Anderson has served on the WTS-LA board as vice president of recognition and student outreach. In her current board position, she oversees professional development, mentorship, college outreach, Transportation You and scholarship/sponsorship committees. She will be first vice president in her next term of office beginning in January 2021.
WTS-Los Angeles is one of the largest chapters of WTS which is dedicated to equity and advancement of women in transportation. The chapter provides VIP speakers, pioneering programs, leadership training, high school and university outreach, and mentoring and professional development.

I am glad I have a network of strong women to collaborate with as I continue my professional journey,” said Anderson. “There is a pressing need for more students to pursue careers in transportation and we want to continue to encourage women entering this field to be part of an organization that actively reaches out and educates students about the vast array of opportunities in transportation.”
Anderson has a decade of experience supporting and overseeing innovative projects in the Los Angeles area. Since joining HNTB in 2018, she had supported projects such as SR-91/Central PA/ED, Caltrans On-Call Task Orders, and Sepulveda Transit Corridor, and has supported multiple pursuits.
