Firm plays critical role in shaping state’s transportation and water infrastructure vital to commerce and quality of life
INDIANAPOLIS (OCT. 19, 2020) – HNTB Corporation celebrates its 80th year in Indiana this week, marking eight decades of shaping critical transportation, water and building infrastructure that has improved mobility and communities statewide.
Since opening its doors in Indiana in 1940, HNTB has partnered with public and private owners to tackle complex and consequential transportation design, construction management and architecture projects, including the West Side I-465 expansion, the I-69 Martinsville to Indianapolis project, the Red Line transit project, the Indiana Government Center campus, the Hoosier Dome and numerous added travel lanes and reconstruction projects on state roads and interstates.
HNTB also has prepared many planning studies that identified and resulted in important projects. These studies include the 1990 Indianapolis Airport Master Plan, the 1981 White River Park Master Plan, a 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan for INDOT, and a 2001 Indianapolis Transit Plan. HNTB-led water infrastructure projects also have improved water treatment facilities, drainage and conservation in Evansville and central Indiana communities.
“For the last 80 years, HNTB’s professionalism, technical excellence and collaborative approach have made a positive impact on the economic vitality and quality of life of Indiana communities,” said Dave McDougall, Indiana office leader and senior vice president at HNTB. “All of us are extremely proud of this legacy and look forward to continuing our work to deliver great projects for our clients while growing our talented workforce for decades to come.”
HNTB moved to its current Indianapolis location on Monument Circle in 1994. The office is undergoing an expansion that will occupy more than 40,000 square feet of office space and the top three floors of the Salesforce building by the end of 2020. In 2019, HNTB opened a second office location in Noblesville. An expansion there is anticipated in 2021. Over the last four years, HNTB added 100 professionals in Indiana and currently employs 180 planners, engineers, inspectors, and other staff across the state. HNTB anticipates a strong growth trend in coming years.
“Indiana’s ‘Crossroads of America’ designation reinforces the importance of providing reliable, cost-effective, and innovative infrastructure that keeps our communities competitive in a regional and national marketplace,” said McDougall. “We’re proud to call Indiana home and to be part of its vibrant future.”
