Debbie Driver joins HNTB as Northwest Division government relations director

Established government affairs professional brings more than two decades of transportation and infrastructure policy experience

SEATTLE (May 29, 2024)Debbie Driver has joined HNTB as government relations director in the firm’s Northwest Division. She will oversee HNTB’s government relations in support of various transportation initiatives while developing and maintaining relationships with key policymakers who influence transportation infrastructure.

By partnering with clients, Driver will contribute to projects across various transportation sectors, including rail, transit and other transportation infrastructure projects throughout Western Washington, Denver and Salt Lake City.

Her extensive experience in transportation policy and funding will be invaluable as we continue to assist our clients in the region with their most complex transportation programs,” said Stephen Knobbe, PE, HNTB Northwest Division president.

Before joining HNTB, Driver most recently served as the transportation senior policy advisor for Washington Gov. Jay Inslee. As part of her role, she served as Gov. Inslee’s representative on the Traffic Safety Commission and the Transportation Commission. Earlier in her career, she served as a senior policy analyst for the Washington State House of Representatives to shape public transportation policy and legislation in alignment with the Democratic Caucus Staff of Transportation.

Driver also has taught a graduate course focused on legislative relations at the University of Washington, Daniel J. Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, where she earned a master’s degree in public administration, urban and regional affairs. Her bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University is in education.
