Betsy Jeffers joins HNTB as a senior project manager in Florida

Roadway expert brings more than 32 years of transportation design and management experience to the firm

MIAMI (June 24, 2024) – Betsey Jeffers, PE, has joined HNTB as vice president and senior project manager supporting the firm’s roadway department in its South Florida offices. Jeffers has been working in the transportation sector for more than 32 years with experience in project management, roadway design, complete streets, and bicycle and pedestrian improvements.

Most of her career has been with the Florida Department of Transportation District 4 Design Office, where she is an expert in FDOT design criteria and standards, specifications, typical section variance and exception reviews, quality control in the daily plans production environment and guidelines for the American Society of State Highway and Transportation Officials and National Society of City Transportation Officials.

“Betsy brings an additional wealth of knowledge to our roadway professionals in South Florida,” said Mario Nuevo, HNTB’s South Florida office leader and vice president. “She is an expert in the design production process and has tremendous experience in building high-performing teams.”

Jeffers spent 12 years as an FDOT in-house design section manager. Having been the design project manager and engineer of record at FDOT for various projects, she has overseen construction budgets ranging from $300,000 to more than $100 million.

Jeffers earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Florida International University and is a licensed professional engineer in Florida. She is certified in the following FDOT programs: Advance Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), MOT Trainer, Leadership Academy and Management Academy.
