Wayne Feuerborn is president of HNTB’s West Division, which encompasses California, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, seven offices, numerous field offices and nearly 500 employees. As West Division President, Wayne leads operations and strategic planning, recruits top talent, fosters relationships with clients and thought leaders and oversees vital, complex infrastructure programs in growth markets such as rail/transit, tolling and aviation.
Wayne has served in numerous roles at HNTB for the past 18 years. Most recently, he was office leader for HNTB’s Central Division of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa. Under his leadership, sales in those states doubled in three years and revenue increased by double digits each year. He also implemented an office employee engagement and communications plan that now is a model for the entire firm.
A noted urban planner, Wayne’s areas of expertise include urban design; comprehensive corridor and master planning; land development planning, including preparing redevelopment plans, design guidelines and plan review services; growth management policies; zoning legislation; economic development planning; and community participation facilitation.
Wayne brings both the client and consultant perspectives to his role. Prior to joining HNTB, he worked for the planning and development department for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and the office of planning for Baltimore County, Maryland. In Baltimore County, he was instrumental in developing the county’s master plan, overseeing the growth management program and preparing design guidelines for traditional neighborhood, office, retail and mixed-used developments.
Wayne is the recipient of two national Outstanding Planning Awards from the American Planning Association for his work on the Atchison Riverfront Park in Kansas and the FOCUS Kansas City Plan.
He actively represents HNTB in civic- and industry-related associations, including:

Wayne earned an MBA from the University of Baltimore. He holds two master’s degrees in urban planning and architecture and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, all from the University of Kansas.
