- An IOOs Perspective on Nationally Standardized V2I Applications
- Over the last few years, agencies have deployed Connected Vehicle (CV) technology. While mostly were pilots and test beds, there were some agencies deploying CV for operational purposes. At the same time, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) were making plans and even announcements about having CV technology in some of their vehicles. When the FCC began the process of retiring Dedicated Short Range Communications (DRSC) and removing the lower 45 Mhz of the safety spectrum, most agencies and OEMs slowed or put their deployments on hold. With the hope the FCC is about to start granting waivers for Cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) and the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) working a National CV Deployment Strategy, now is the time to begin thinking about how deployments will move forward. One of the areas where standardization is needed is in Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) applications. Agencies across the country have deployed various V2I applications to satisfy their User Cases. In order for travelers driving through multiple agencies jurisdictions to received benefits from CV technology, the CV V2I applications have to be uniform. With this in mind, this roundtable discussion will be compromised of agencies who have deployed CV technology to discuss their thoughts on what V2I applications should be standardized nationwide and what that might look like.

- How states are approaching the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program
- The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program (NEVI) was announced in early 2022 with an aggressive timeline for states to create 5-year NEVI plans to build out a national electric vehicle charging network. Each state rose to the task of completing their plan but each state took an approach that suited their state's needs, vision and challenges. This panel will explore how NEVI plans were created, how procurement for the first year is being tackled and how implementation and evaluation will be done.

- Equitable Mobility with Jacksonville Transportation Authority's Ultimate Urban Circulator
- The Ultimate Urban Circulator (U2C) is a comprehensive program to modernize and introduce autonomous vehicles (AVs) into the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s system. The JTA is taking a phased approach to implementing AVs to enable equitable and seamless transformational mobility for its Bay Street Innovation Corridor (BSIC), aging Skyway and neighboring communities. The U2C’s goal is to provide compact, walkable, pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use communities centered around access to JTA’s multi-modal transit options and increase regional mobility. The first phase of the U2C project will be the Bay Street Innovation Corridor (BSIC), which received board approval in January 2022 and is moving forward with implementation supported by a $12.5 million BUILD grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, funding from the Florida Department of Transportation, North Florida Transportation Planning Organization, and local funds. The first phase will provide mobility equity and have a positive impact to the BSIC by reducing congestion and replacing vehicle trips with shared, electric and autonomous mobility that is safer and sustainable. In addition to the material impact the project will have on enhancing and transforming mobility, the innovative project will drive economic growth and transit-oriented development for population that is 65% non-white and 70% making less than $50,000. During the panel, you will hear first-hand from the JTAU2C team, the AV-lead contractor and JTA Board members who are all responsible for delivering Phase I of the U2C.
