LA International Airport South Runway Relocation
LA International Airport South Runway Relocation

The Los Angeles International Airport South Airfield Improvement Program included the demolition and reconstruction of runway 25L and construction of a central taxiway system to reduce or eliminate runway incursions and accommodate the industry’s new large aircraft, the Airbus A380. During construction, an existing runway was discovered buried underneath the runway that was being demolished. The old runway also needed to be demolished. Despite this challenge, the project team completed construction only eight days past the original schedule and within the original budget. HNTB also helped the Los Angeles World Airports with the funding component of its strategic plan.
