Hero Canal Levees and Floodwall Planning, Design and Construction Services

HNTB provided planning and design services for the preparation of plans and specifications for the levee enlargement and new levee in the West Bank and Vicinity. HNTB planned and designed 3,400 feet of new earthen levee and 1,000 feet of floodwall from Hero to Oakville Reach and an enlargement of an 19,000 feet levee at Hero Canal Reach. HNTB evaluated several alternative alignments for the client including multiple components such as levees with and without geotextiles, levees with stability berms, levees with deep soil mixing, T-wall, sector gate and barge gate crossing for HeroCanal, swinging roadway and railroad floodgates, highway ramps, pump stations, and bridges. HNTB developed inspection sheets and a database that the client now uses as a model for other contractors to implement.
