Digital Multi-Purpose Training Range
Digital Multi-Purpose Training Range

HNTB, working with the Fort Worth District, USACE Huntsville HNC, Fort Bliss and other key stakeholders, provided the design services for the design of the training facility from the baseline forward using the TrueViz OnTarget® proven range optimization design process. This enabled the client to maximize their investment by providing unparalleled training capability while minimizing the environmental impacts and constraints on areas of high density unexploded ordnance. The 1260 acre range contained 107,000 firing point-to-target lines of sight (LOS) for training, 8500 LOS for cameras, 2500 LOS for range markers and 11,500 LOS for the bleachers. TrueViz OnTarget® enabled HNTB to perform many iterations to optimize each LOS in a ten month design schedule. We designed over 8.25 miles of training area roads for this range along with six MATs, 30 SATs, 18 SITs, four MITs, an Urban Cluster with seven buildings, six one-story and ten two-story Facades, erosion control measures, two trenches with bunkers and eight two-tier battle positions.
