Digital Multi-Purpose Range Complex

HNTB was tasked with the redesign of the FortBenning’s DMPRC while under construction as a result of differing site conditions. The redesign incorporated updating survey data and revised training requirements. The goal of the redesign also included optimizing range training capabilities utilizing HNTB’s TrueViz OnTarget® proven range design and optimization process, evaluating SDZs, minimizing earthwork, minimizing impacts to UXO and environmentally sensitive areas. This redesign effort was completed within eight weeks and included the analysis of over 540,000 firing point to-target lines-of-sight through multiple iterations. The redesign resulted in an improved training capability of 47% (accomplished by the evaluation of training requirements of multiple weapon systems - Tank Table VIIICOE, Bradley and Scout), reduced wetlands impacts by 6.5 acres, included cost avoidance measures estimated at $2-4 M, and significantly reduced (by 12.9 acres) the disturbance/UXO clearance area (potential savings $500k).
