Walter R. (Bob) Ivarson, PE

Bob Ivarson, PE, senior project manager and water resources practice leader, based in the Chicago office, has nearly 40 years of experience in water resources engineering with emphasis on the design of large dams and hydroelectric plants. His expertise has helped HNTB win and deliver the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway Western Closure Complex, one of the largest projects associated with the post-Katrina reconstruction efforts. 

Ivarson has served as president of both the Rock Island  and Chicago Posts of the Society of American Military Engineers. He served as chairman of the American Consulting Engineers Council in Illinois - United States Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District Liaison Committee from 2006 to 2009. He is a past president of the Western Society of Engineers and has served as a board member of the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. His water resources experience extends across federal, state and municipal market sectors.
