Semyon Treyger, PE, SE, vice president and West Division director of bridges and tunnels, based in HNTB’s Seattle office, is one of the firm’s foremost experts on seismic design and retrofit of structures. His responsibilities include providing both design services and quality control review for projects in the United States and internationally. 
 

 

Some of Treyger’s major projects include bridge design manager for the Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement in Long Beach, Calif., and deputy bridge design manager for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington. He was also involved in the BART Seismic Retrofit Program, the Yerba Buena Tunnel, Devil’s Slide Tunnel, Mt. Baker Ridge Tunnel and the Worli-Bandra Sea Link in Bombay, India.

 

During his 27 years with HNTB, many of Treyger’s projects have won prestigious awards, including the Grand Conceptor for the I-90 Mt. Baker Ridge Tunnel and Seattle Lid, the Excellence in Highway Design Award of Merit from the Federal Highway Administration for the Alsea Bay Bridge and the Washington ACEC Honor Award for the Bennett Bay Centennial Bridge.

 

He is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Washington, the Prestressed Concrete Institute, the International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineering and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has also presented and published technical papers at the IABSE Symposiums, New York City Bridge Conference, the American Council of Engineering Companies’ annual congress and many others.

 

Treyger is a registered professional engineer in six states. He earned his master’s degree in structural engineering from the Moscow Structures Institute.
