Raymond J. McCabe, PE

Raymond J. McCabe, PE, senior vice president, national director of Bridges and Tunnels, based in HNTB’s New York office, has more than 28 years of professional experience in structural design of long-span, movable, signature and complex bridges. Since joining HNTB in 1978, McCabe has been instrumental in providing the national direction of the firm’s bridge and tunnel service, strategically guiding the practice to its leadership position.

As a recognized leader in the industry, McCabe has been involved in many signature projects, including project manager of the award-winning Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge in Boston, design board member of the Tacoma Narrows Suspension Bridge in Tacoma, Wash., and principal-in-charge of the Sixth Street Viaduct in Milwaukee.

 

McCabe serves as the president of the American Segmental Bridge Institute, past president of the Metropolitan Section of American Society of Civil Engineers, member of the Post-Tensioning Institute Committee on Design of Stay Cables, and member of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineers. McCabe also has served as panel member for many national committees, including the Scientific Committee for the Avigon 2004 FIB Symposium and the Scientific Committee of IABSE Conference on Cable Supported Bridges. McCabe has authored and presented numerous papers on design of complex bridges at national and international conferences.

 

He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at City College of New York and a master’s degree in structural engineering at Polytechnic Institute of New York.
