Daniel Staron

HNTB has helped me be successful by providing the resources and technological support to provide state-of-the art services to our clients and by affording me the opportunity to work with a group of very dynamic people with vast knowledge and diverse backgrounds.

What kinds of projects do you work on?
Since joining HNTB more than nine years ago, I have had the opportunity to work on several large transportation projects in the Washington DC region, such as the reconstruction of the Springfield Interchange located at the junction of Interstates 95, 395 and 495, as well as the reconstruction and expansion of the U.S. Route 1/I-95 interchange associated with the replacement of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Both of these projects were significant interchange improvement projects built essentially over the footprint of the current interchanges while maintaining existing traffic. Both projects included an extensive network of bridge structures that had to be designed in concert with the confined urban environment. On the $300M Route 1 interchange project, I served as the deputy project manager as well as HNTB’s structural lead.

How does HNTB help you be successful?
The structural group is fortunate to have dependable, extremely dedicated and very competent professionals, and my success could not have been achieved without their support and dedication to providing quality work for our clients. Additionally, no matter the nature or complexity of issues that may arise during a project, there is someone at HNTB who has been faced with a similar situation and can provide valuable advice and insight. HNTB's learning and development programs have also provided me with valuable training and knowledge regarding proven project management and leadership techniques.

How has HNTB helped you advance in your career?
By giving me the opportunity to work on a variety of unique projects and by providing opportunities to move up within the firm over the years. HNTB’s emphasis on developing and maintaining client contacts and building relationships with our various clients has certainly played a rewarding and important role in my overall career development.
