HNTBĀ served as the design and construction manager on the Denver International Airport Program Management Team for the $544 million Hotel and Transit Center (HTC). The project scope included: a new terminal Regional Transportation District (RTD) station, new roadways and bridges, automated people mover extension, convention center ballrooms, meeting rooms, boardrooms, kitchens, two restaurants, future build-out for a large security screening checkpoint, ticketing and baggage drop-off, an outdoor covered plaza, and a new 519 guestroom hotel with pool and fitness center. The HTC achieved LEED Gold and includes connection to light rail, low flow and flush plumbing fixtures, card-key control of guest-room plug loads, lighting and temperature set-backs, on-site PV system to offset nearly 30 percent of annual energy use, and 43 percent annual energy use savings including renewables.

HNTB provided visioning and conceptual design for change of use for major portions of the terminal, expansion of terminal curb-side areas, addition of a RTD train station, expansion of the existing terminal, airport hotel, new south terminal/concourses and landside roadway improvements/expansions. HNTB also performed Federal Inspection Services/Customs and Border Protection planning and concept design. Services included the evaluation and incorporation of sustainable design strategies for possible LEED certification.
