Hiep Bui joins HNTB as engineering manager in Inland Empire

Bui’s extensive experience includes serving as Caltrans District 8 design office chief, and project and construction manager on numerous transportation projects

ONTARIO, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2017) – Hiep Bui, PE, joined HNTB Corporation’s expanding Southern California team as engineering manager for the Inland Empire. He will play a major role in the management of the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority program management/construction management contract for the Interstate 10 Corridor Express Lanes project in San Bernardino County, California. Additionally, he will support the firm’s work with Caltrans District 8 and Inland Empire clients’ infrastructure projects. Bui is based in the firm’s new Ontario office.

Bui brings more than 37 years of technical expertise in the planning, design and construction of transportation projects throughout Southern California, including highways and design-build toll roads, such as project and technical management for SANBAG’s I-215 widening and reconstruction project in San Bernardino.

Prior to joining HNTB, Bui served another transportation consulting firm as associate vice president for construction management in Southern California. His experience encompasses working as independent quality assurance manager for SBCTA on the $228 million design-build project to reconstruct the I-15/I-215 interchange near Devore, as well as various positions over 27 years at Caltrans District 8, including design office chief. He also was construction and project manager for SBCTA’s railroad grade separation and interchange improvement program.

Bui is a licensed professional engineer and earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University. He is active professionally in the American Society of Civil Engineers.
