HNTB’s Jeff Watson appointed to California Transportation Foundation board

Watson assumes leadership role at California’s top charitable transportation organization

OAKLAND, Calif. (Feb. 14, 2017) – Jeff Watson of HNTB Corporation has been appointed to a two-year term on the California Transportation Foundation’s board of directors. He will serve on committees for CTF’s Annual Education Symposium, Transportation Awards, and Injured and Fallen Workers Fund. Watson is a vice president and Northern California operations manager for HNTB.

“Jeff is passionate about transportation and is committed to giving back to the industry through his involvement in leadership and mentoring activities,” said Darlene Gee, vice president and Northern California district leader for HNTB. “The same exceptional skills and expertise he brings to HNTB will be invaluable for the CTF community.”

Watson has served as a mentor in CTF’s annual education symposium for the past four years. The event matches California university students considering a career in the transportation sector with industry professionals who provide advice and guidance.

“My involvement with the CTF education symposium has been hugely rewarding,” said Watson. “I am honored to serve on the board of such an important organization and look forward to contributing at various levels in a leadership role.”

The mission of CTF, California’s leading transportation foundation, is to support the state’s transportation industry with programs that include student scholarships; remembrance of transportation service; and awards and recognition. The organization sponsors events that include the Transportation Forum, Transportation Awards, Transportation Education Symposium and Charity Golf Tournament.

Watson has over 25 years of civil engineering experience, including design, operations and program management. He has managed multidisciplinary transportation projects for a wide range of clients across the country and is currently working on multiple projects for Bay Area Rapid Transit. He has been involved with CTF for nearly five years, participating in forums, award ceremonies and education symposiums.

Watson earned a bachelor’s degree in civil and construction engineering technology from Temple University in Philadelphia.
